News: Jak X, Sly 3 and Ratchet 4 are all on the docket for this fall.
This month's issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly (which is shipping to subscriber's now) has the scoop on the continuing adventures of Sony's 3 favorite mascots. All three should be available this fall, proving there's still plenty of life left in the ol' PS2.
Jak X proves that Jak 3 wasn't exactly the "end" of the Jak trilogy. Except this time, instead of platforming and action game antics, Jak and company are racing for their lives. Literally, because the winners of the race will control the cure to a mysterious virus that is infecting everyone.
EGM says that Jak X echoes the car combat of Twisted Metal with its weaponry and violent crashes. The game will be mission based, so expect plenty of deatchmatches mixed in with straight racing.
Jak X will also feature splitscreen and online multiplayer.
Ratchet: Deadlocked also switches up the series, but not in such a drastic way. It's still built all around action and the "guns, lots of guns" mentality from the first three games, but this time, Clank is no where to be seen. On top of that, Ratchet has unlocked a bionic suit of armor and a team of other bionic soldiers as Deadlocked will be a squad based shooter.
Deadlocked is also said to feature "a more user-friendly multiplayer mode" and online cooperative play in the single player game.
Finally, Sly 3 is said to be more of the same as this time Sly and company sneak their way around to steal back Sly's family fortune.
Not much else to report at this point in time, but EGM said that Sony was saying their could be a multiplayer mode this time. But they kept it on the sly over whether or not this Sly would go online.
We'll have a lot more on these three big titles in the very near future.
