News: GoldenEye DS becomes GoldenEye: Rogue Agent and 5 screens too.
After keeping us in the dark for what seemed like forever, EA has finally pulled the cover off of GoldenEye: Rogue Agent for the DS. And not surprisingly, it looks just like it's big console brothers. But surprisingly, it looks just as good as it's big console brothers.
Gameplay-wise, GoldenEye: Rogue Agent is shaping up exactly as it was when we last saw Mr. Eye on the consoles. The story's the same, players will be dismissed from MI6 and take up with Goldfinger's forces against Dr. No. From there players will go through six missions earning "GoldenEye" powers like MRI scanning, EM hacking and a force field.
Players will also be able to dual-wield weaponry in this DS version and all of the hand-to-hand techniques return as GoldenEye can punch, take hostages and throw enemies off cliffs.
The dual screens are divided very simply with the action on the top screen and ammo counts, GoldenEye powers and radar is on the bottom. It's not known whether the stylus will come into play on GoldenEye DS.
We do know that the DS version will be set apart from it's big brothers by offering 8 player muultiplayer deathmatch options in Showdown, Team Showdown, Domination, and Tug-Of-War. The DS exclusive Virtual Training mode will allow players to earn new equipment and powers by taking on former Bond villains in a VR environment.
GoldenEye: Rogue Agent is scheduled for a June release and here are the first screenshots I promised.
