News: Sega returns to the Phatasy Star with a single-player and online RPG in one game.
After it's big unveiling on the cover of EGM this month, Sega has revealed a little more about the PS2's Phantasy Star Universe.
The game will actually more like two games in one as Phantasy Star Universe will feature a full single-player RPG and a huge online multi-player mode.
The single player game will, according to Sega, last roughly 40 hours and place players in the shoes of Ethan Waber, a 17-year old searching for his sister and trying to avoid mysterious invading aliens called THE SEED.
In Online Mode, players will be able to create a character from several different races and join up with other players and enter cities that will feature "hundreds of other players". According to Sega, the Online Mode will be updated with new content "over the course of several years".
This is the first "real" Phantasy Star RPG in years and Sega looks to be doing everything right. It's currently scheduled to ship in the Spring of 2006 and you can be sure we'll be watching every step of the way.
