News: Electric Blue for the DS, Wireless for the Revolution and Polarium.
Nintendo has hit us up with a trio of news bites today and we'll start off with the coolest.
Blue cool that is as Nintendo has announced that the DS is getting a new color scheme dubbed "Electric Blue." The Electric Blue DS will join the standard silver one, now dubbed "Titanium" in June. For a look at the sleek new DS model, check it out here.
Next, Broadcom has announced that they will be supplying the wireless networking technology that Nintendo will use in the Revolution. According to Broadcom, the Revolution will "feature an advanced wireless platform that integrates multiple technologies to enable a new and exciting gaming experience". So I guess I got that going me.
Finally, Nintendo has announced that Polarium is shipping to stores now. The DS puzzler takes a cue from Othello and requires players to change blocks from white to black or black to white to form one solidly colored line.
The puzzle game includes some interesting features that Nintendo hopes to bring out the community of DS players. DS Download Play allows one person with Polarium to send a demo version of the game along with ten puzzles to a friend to give it a shot. If your friends do have Polarium, you can hook up for wirelessly head-to-head play. Or if they're out of range, you can create custom puzzles and give them a password that they can use to unlock those creations on their copy of Polarium.
