News: Somebody tell Shiggy, Nintendo Europe's head of product analysis just dropped a bomb.

Computer and Video Games, Europe's biggest peddler of wild video game rumors, scored an interview Friday with Marko Hein, Nintendo Europe's head of product analysis. The interview touches on almost every aspect of Nintendo's future plans. Among those plans was the future of the DS and how Nintendogs is going to change gaming. He also talked about Zelda: Twilight Princess and the twilight of the GameCube. The GBA, the GBA Micro and the possibility of a GBA 2 were also discussed. And of course, the Revolution and Nintendo's next-gen mission were included. But the big bomb came in a fairly mundane way:

"Mario 128 is not coming to Cube." He followed that up talk of mario's confirmed upcoming Cube adventures and this quote: "Iwata said at the press conference that a Mario game was underway on Revolution. I think that explains everything."

Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto has always said that Mario 128 would be a GameCube game and that it was too "revolutionary" to show to the public when it was still in the early development stages. Maybe now it really is Revolutionary (Revolutionary with a big R). It's worth noting that the last time there was a "revolutionary" Mario game it was Super Mario 64 and the realization that the N64 controller was designed specifically for it. Is that what's happening here with Mario 128 and the Revolution's phantom controllers?

We may not know yet, but take a look at the interview, it's a good read, just don't expect any other bombs.
