News: Pac-Man World Rally is in development at Namco.
Namco has announced that the next thing Pac-Man will be taking a bite out of is that favorite of mascots everywhere: the kart racer.
Pac-Man World Rally is coming to the PS2, Xbox, GameCube, PSP and PC next year. It's being developed by Smart Bomb Interactive.
Pac-Man World Rally will feature 14 characters from Pac-Man's world and several other Namco titles. The racing in World Rally should be familiar to kart racing fans as the game will use power sliding and a boost system called the Boost Bottle. Dots and Power Pellets will also litter the tracks and in true Pac-fashion, eating a Power Pellet will give you the power to eat your opponents.
"Pac-Man World Rally delivers the most complete kart racing experience yet with incredible speed across outrageous and vibrant courses from well known Namco games," said Jeff Lujan, business director at Namco. "The refined power sliding mechanics allows for tremendous handling in any situation, while a roster of more than 15 classic characters ensures that every race is memorable for players of all ages."
Rounding out the game's features will be several multiplayer modes including head-to-head, Grand Prix and battle modes.
