News: Take Two reveals their financial news for the year, announces a new GTA and delays Elder Scrolls 4.

Take Two has released their financial statement for the 2005 fiscal year today and it wasn't pretty. For the fiscal year ending today, October 31, Take Two said they expected $1.18 billion in net sales for fiscal 2005. Analysts expected Take Two to post $1.25 billion in net sales, a $70 million shortfall.

For the 2006 fiscal year, which runs from November 1, 2005 to October 31, 2006, Take Two has lowered their sales expectations. They say these lowered expectations are due to the "uncertainty in forecasting the pace of manufacturer shipments and consumer adoption of new hardware platforms". Basically, they put the blame on unknown sales estimates of the Xbox 360, Revolution and PS3. But Take Two has said they plan to support "next generation hardware."

Among that support of next generation hardware is The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (for PC and Xbox 360), which Take Two has delayed until February 2006 at the earliest.

And then there was this:

"...including the two previously announced Rockstar Games titles for the PSP, one of which is a new Grand Theft Auto title" said Paul Eibeler, President and Chief Executive Officer. The game will ship sometime in 2006.

Take Two's last financial statement made mention of "extensions to the Grand Theft Auto brand" and those new PSP titles. It looks like they are one and the same.

This announcement should come as no surprise as one of Take Two's bright spots was the revelation that Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories is selling very well.

We'll have more on all things Take Two, including a review of GTA: Liberty Stores, very soon.
