News: Codemasters jumps into the rhythm game... er, game.

Codemasters has announced that they are bringing Dance Factory to the PS2 this April and that it will bring a new wrinkle to music games everywhere.

At this point in the news post I would talk about the soundtrack featured on this particular music game. Probably take a potshot at a band that was included that I'm not really fond of. But not with Dance Factory.

Dance Factory's little wrinkle is the ability to take any CD from your collection, import it into the game and then Dance Factory choreographs dance moves for it. No more [insert your most hated artist here] infecting your dance game fun.

This innovation aside, like any good dance game, Dance Factory includes tons of modes. Fitness Mode tracks how many calories you've burned. Endurance Mode puts an entire CD in front of the player and challenges them to complete the whole thing with a certain level of accurancy. And Recorder Mode allows players to record the moves for a song for a later challenge against the computer or friends. There is also something called "Creature Mode" that is still a mystery to us.

Multiplayer Mode, in addition to the one-on-one options, also includes a 16 player tournament feature.

Finally, take a look at the first seven screenshots.

We'll dance to the beat of our own drum with more Dance Factory news soon.
