News: The Psychonauts publisher sells off the rights to both comic titles.
Majesco was flying high at the beginning of 2005. Psychonauts and Advent Rising were critical darlings and they were coming out soon and the company's stock price soared.
Things are a little different now as Psychonauts was a critical favorite but a non-seller and Advent Rising was neither well reviewed nor a blockbuster. In fact, Majesco has been treading near bankruptcy for some time.
So it's not really surprising that they've decided to sell the publishing rights to two of their big projects for 2006.
The Darkness is being developed by Starbreeze Studios for the Xbox 360 and PS3. It's based on the Top Cow comic of the same name and was scheduled for a to be announced 2006 release date.
Ghost Rider is based on the Marvel Comics title and upcoming Nic Cage moving about the motorcycle-stuntman from Hell. It is in development at Climax.
The rights to both have been sold to an unnamed publisher for $8 million.
Majesco has said they will offer more details during their financial conference call in January, where I'm sure the mystery publisher will be revealed.
