News: Midway's popular arcade baseball title heads to the top of the release order.
Midway announced today that MLB Slugfest 2006 will ship for the PS2 and Xbox this Spring for the budget price of $19.99.
This new edition of Slugfest will include a new create-a-player mode and updated rosters and stadiums.
"MLB SlugFest 2006 is the only adrenaline-style, officially MLB licensed baseball game on the market and we're very excited to be able to offer gamers the latest in the SlugFest franchise at a great value," said Steve Allison, chief marketing officer, Midway. "At a competitive price point and in a year in which fewer than usual MLB licensed games exist, we're certain that fans will embrace having a choice at retail, especially with the enhancements that we've been able to incorporate into MLB SlugFest 2006."
This is all well and good, but I think the real question is "How is Midway doing this?" If you'll recall, Take Two purchased exclusive third-party rights to all MLB games for the next seven years. So how is Midway creating a new "MLB" Slugfest game with updated rosters?
I guess we'll find out this Spring.
