News: The wait for Final Fantasy XII just got even more unbearable.
Famitsu, the most widely-respected gaming publication in Japan, has only issued out 5 perfect 40 scores in their history - Soul Calibur, Nintendogs, Zelda: Wind Waker, Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and Vagrant Story. It's so exclusive, that not even Dragon Quest, Japan's most popular RPG franchise, is part of it. Nor is Final Fantasy.
But no longer; Final Fantasy XII is now the 6th member of the Perfect 40 Club as it scored 4 perfect 10 ratins in the newest issue of Famitsu to join a very elite group of some of the most beloved games ever created.
If anything can be taken from this, it's that the constant delays and rumored development troubles have paid off and FFXII is shaping up to be perhaps the last truly great PlayStation 2 game.
It's shipping next week in Japan. As for us...well we'll keep you posted if Square Enix decides to announce a US release date.
