News: Apparently, you can put anything in front of the word УnoirФ these days...
Max Payne, the originator of Уaction-noirФ gameplay, will be returning soon in Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne. Naturally, it should only follow that Jack Slate, Max's rival in the action-noir genre, would also be returning. And indeed, Namco has announced that a follow-up to Dead to Rights is in the works, scheduled for release during the fall of next year. Though the original game did come out on the GameCube, only a PS2 and Xbox version have been confirmed at this point.
As expected, the sequel will once again star Jack Slate and his canine companion, Shadow. While plot details are sketchy at this point, I'll take a wild guess that it revolves around Jack being framed for a crime he didn't commit. Gameplay will include a Уspherical slow motion driving systemФ -- I don't know exactly what that is, but it certainly sounds Уnoirish.Ф
"We are extremely excited to announce the sequel to our highly successful Dead to Rights title," said Andre Emerson, senior producer at Namco Hometek, the company's U.S. consumer division. "With even more groundbreaking gameplay features, a gripping new hardboiled story and high cinematic production values, Dead to Rights II: Hell to Pay redefines the highly successful action-noir genre established by the original."
