News: A Civ IV expansion and a city building sim are coming out of Sid Meier's baby.

2K Games has announced the latest expansion to the Civilization series along with a new spinoff set in the Civ universe.

Civilization IV: Warlords will add new single and multi-player content to Civ IV. The strategy game will be expanded with "six new scenarios, new civilizations, new leaders and more units, resources and wonders."

"Civilization IV has been a great success for us," said Christoph Hartmann, Managing Director of 2K Games. "We believe Warlords will exceed the extremely high demands of gamers worldwide with new additions to its already successful formula."

2K is also planning a Civ spinoff known as CivCity: Rome. The city building sim will be based in the Civ world and is being codeveloped by Firaxis and Firefly Studios.

"We're very excited to be teaming up with the talented folks at Firefly," said Steve Martin, President of Firaxis Games. "The teams at Firefly and Firaxis have worked hard to ensure that CivCity: Rome has the same depth and quality that gamers have come to expect from a Firaxis title."

CivCity will transport gamers to a small Roman settlement that players will have to build into an imperial city.

Both games are scheduled to ship this summer.
