News: Knockout Kings goes the way of Triple Play Baseball as EA renames another one of it's sports franchises.
EA Sports yesterday announced Fight Night 2004, a new boxing game that will replace their Knockout Kings series.
Even with the name change, Fight Night 2004 looks to include many of the features that Knockout Kings had like having a roster of the greaest boxers ever including Lennox Lewis, Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Leonard and Roy Jones Jr on the cover. The game will also feature an analog control system known as Total Punch Control that EA says will "allow gamers to throw punches, block, bob, and weave with unprecedented fluidity and precision." Naturally, a career mode and a create-a-fighter mode will also be present in Fight Night 2004.
Finally, I'll let the press release speak for this last feature because I can't do a better job of describing it:
Fight Night 2004 also features customizable ring entrances where you can assemble an entourage, choose your theme music, select your pyrotechnics and set the tone for the fight to follow in addition to an all-new physics-based action that assures no two knockdowns will ever be alike.
Fight Night 2004 is currently scheduled for a Spring 2004 release for the Playstation 2 and Xbox.
