News: Snowblind is handling DC's action RPG featuring all of their characters.
Back in July Warner Bros. Interactive announced that they had begun development on an X-Men Legends-style action RPG featuring characters from the DC universe. And then they made like Wonder Woman's plane and disappeared.
Today Warner Bros. jumped back into the game with the official announcement of Justice League Heroes. Previously announced for the PS2 and Xbox, the game is now also coming to the PSP. All three versions ship this Fall.
The other big announcement is that Snowblind Studios (Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance and the Champions series) will be handling the development duties. We still don't really know many details, but at least we know that a big name in the action RPG biz is working on the Justice League game.
"Working on Justice League Heroes is exciting because players will get a chance to experience the superpowers of these well-known and loved super heroes together first hand," said Paul Knutzen, Game Designer, Snowblind Studios. "This is a real opportunity to bring the celebrated characters to life in dynamic gameplay, showcasing their individual powers and their incredible capabilities working as a team."
A few gameplay details did sneak out of the secretive house of Warner today. The game will feature two-player cooperative play, destructible environments, and customizable, upgradeable superpowers. And just who will be getting those super powers? Well, Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, The Flash, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter and Zatanna will be available at the start and more DC heroes will be unlockable later.
Finally, we have learned that comic and cartoon writer Dwayne McDuffie will be scripting this adventure.
Hopefully we'll find out more on Justice League Heroes a lot sooner than last time.
