It's quietly leaked out that Sony plans to cease production of their first console, the PSone.
The PSone, then just the PlayStation, was first launched in Japan in December 1994. It was redesigned into the smaller PSone after the PlayStation 2 launched in 2000.
No one can deny the PSone's incredible success, as of last year, over 100 million units had been sold worldwide. And you have to give credit to the console that dethroned the once invincible Nintendo.
Even though this is the end, Sony has said the system will still be available until supplies are exhausted. Whatever happens, the PSone will live on in backwards compatibility and the upcoming PSP download service.
So here's to you Sony. Regardless of all the question marks surrounding the PS3, the PSone was a huge success.
