News: Duke Nukem, meet Nova. Nova, this is Duke Nukem.

Blizzard released a press release today that confirms what many of us had assumed for a while: StarCraft: Ghost has been delayed indefinitely.

Ghost, a console-exclusive, stealth-based off-shoot to the StarCraft franchise has been in development for roughly four years now. Originally scheduled for a 2003 release on the GameCube, PS2 and Xbox, the game has suffered numerous setbacks. The GameCube version was previously canceled back in November.

The reason for the delay is that Blizzard wants to explore the possibilities of the next-gen Xbox 360, PS3 and Revolution before deciding what to do with the long-in-development Ghost.

"Like many in the industry, we've been impressed with the potential of the new consoles, and we're looking forward to exploring that potential further," stated Mike Morhaime, president and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. "In addition to allowing us to determine the best course for StarCraft: Ghost, this review period will help us lay the groundwork for our future console games."

So who wants to start taking bets on which game will come out first: StarCraft: Ghost or Duke Nukem Forever?
