News: The megapublisher will distribute one of the first "episodic" games.
Gamers have been eagerly awaiting the first episode in Ritual Entertainment's new project SiN Episodes. And now those that don't want to worry about downloading the game through Steam can purchase it in retail stores thanks to EA.
Emergance will be released on May 9 and will be the first in a series of games that developer Ritual says will provide three to six hours of "episodic" content. New episodes should appear on a continual basis. It's the same model Valve is using for the Half-Life 2 expansions.
Ritual has been in discussions with Microsoft to get their Source-powered shooter to appear on the Xbox 360. But due to file size limits and the hard drive issue, Ritual didn't know how to proceed. This retail distribution partnership with EA might be the answer.
We'll have more on all types of SiN in the future.
