News: 2K games and Square-Enix executives should be very happy indeed.
2K Games announced this morning they have shipped 1.7 million copies of Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion worldwide. It accomplished this feat in roughly three weeks as the game first shipped for the Xbox 360 and PC on March 20.
"We are very encouraged by the worldwide consumer demand for Oblivion," stated Paul Eibeler, Take-Two's President and Chief Executive Officer. "The development team at Bethesda promised and delivered the first true next generation role playing game experience."
Meanwhile, Square-Enix has there own big seller on the market as they announced that they have shipped 1.3 million copies of Kingdom Hearts II in the U.S. since the game went on sale two weeks ago. This is in addition to a shipping total of 1.2 million copies in Japan since it was released there at the end of last year.
Square-Enix went on to say that the series has shipped 8.5 million copies worldwide. And with the eventual release of Kingdom Hearts II in Europe, that number should top 10 million.
Big numbers all around.
