News: Popular PC racer is coming to the Xbox 360.
THQ has inked a deal with Swedish developer SimBin to bring the popular GTR racing series to the Xbox 360 as the first game in a multi-title deal.
Currently scheduled for a Spring 2007 release, GTR is based on the European FIA GT Championships. The game is being headed by a former FIA GT owner, Henrik Roos. THQ and SimBin hope to "set new standards for racing realism on [a] console".
"We're excited to be working with one of the foremost European developers to bring a truly unique racing experience to Xbox 360," said Ian Curran, senior vice president, international publishing, THQ. "The talent at SimBin combined with the unique background that Roos brings to the team means that we will be able to deliver a meticulously comprehensive and entertaining racing experience to gamers."
"SimBin has built a reputation for delivering cutting edge technology, unmatched atmosphere and white-knuckle realism in our racing games," said Henrik Roos, chief executive officer, SimBin. "With GTR for Xbox 360 we're developing a title that is not only a truly authentic racing game, but also a challenging, realistic and entertaining game that will be easy to learn but tough to master. In other words -- do it for real!"
