News: The HBO megahit is being turned into a game.
THQ announced today that The Sopranos will be coming to the Xbox 360 and PS2 this Holiday season.
The game places players in the shoes of the illegitimate son of Big Pussy, a new solider in Tony Soprano's army. By taking orders from Paulie, Silvio, Christopher and Tony you'll have to "earn money on collections, protect your turf through intimidation, and gain admiration within your own family to move up in the ranks of the organization." You'll perform these tasks at familiar Sopranos settings including the Bada Bing!, Nuovo Vesuvio's and Satriale's.
That actually sounds eerily similar to EA's early description of The Godfather.
"We're excited to work with HBO on creating a game that captures the spirit of the groundbreaking series - a modern classic that redefines the life of crime genre," said Kelly Flock, executive vice president, Worldwide Publishing, THQ. "The Sopranos has become television legacy for this generation and now fans and gamers can become part of the story and see if they have the muscle and wit to become 'made.'"
Sopranos creator David Chase is working with THQ on the storyline and key members of the cast will provide voicework to the game. Right now, James Gandolfini (Tony Soprano), is the only confirmed cast member.
We'll have more on The Sopranos soon.
