News: The popular fighter is finally confirmed for the PS3.
A while back, EGM reported that Sega was bringing Virtua Fighter 5 exclusively to the PS3. However, Sega, in their wisdom started saying "Whoa! We never said that. We have not announced what next-gen systems VF5 will appear." But we all knew it was inevitable because today Sega announced Virtua Fighter 5 exclusively for the PS3.
Virtua Fighter 5 will sport a cast of 17 fighters including two new characters. El Blaze is "a Mexican fighting champion who defeats opponents with his quick Lucha Libre fighting style". On the other hand, Eileen, a girl from China, will use a Monkey Kung-Fu fighting style.
Virtua Fighter 5 retains all of the same realistic gameplay that the series is known for. But this newest game in the series adds something called the "Offensive Move" to the fight, which Sega says makes attacking from the side easier. When not fighting, players will be able to customize their favorite fighter through an in-game shop.
"Virtua Fighter 5 will offer fans the ultimate next-generation fighting game experience," said Scott A. Steinberg, Vice President of Marketing, SEGA of America, Inc. "For years, the industry has talked about bringing the arcade experience to the living room. Virtua Fighter 5 fulfills this promise, and then some."
Virtua Fighter 5 is currently scheduled to ship in Spring 2007, so be prepared to wait.
