News: The alternate-reality shooter has finally found a publisher. Raiden III announced as well.
GameSpot is reporting that after being on ice for nearly two years, The Red Star has finally been picked up for release.
The game is based on a popular comic that features an alternate reality where Russia won the Cold War and was often compared to Contra during it's development cycle. It was one of the last games Acclaim was working on before they went bankrupt and was only weeks from release when the company stopped development.
But now, after all this time, budget publisher XS Games has picked up the rights to the game and the PS2 version will be released in August. According to GameSpot, XS is still debating the future of the Xbox version. It may come out shortly after the PS2 version or it may not come out at all.
One other game they are sure about however is Taito's top down shooter Raiden III. XS is bringing that game to the PS2 in August or September.
