News: Activision ups the ante with their shipping projections of Spider-Man 2.
When the news slows down in the summer, you have to ask yourself, who doesn't love a good pissing match?
Last week, Atari announced that they had shipped 2.5 million copies of Driver 3 worldwide. Yesterday, Activision fired back with shipment numbers for their summer contender, Spider-Man 2. According to Activision, they have shipped more than 2 million units of Spider-Man 2 for the PS2, Xbox, GameCube, Game Boy Advance and PC in North America alone.
Unlike Driver 3, Spider-Man 2 has yet to release in Europe and Japan. It's currently on track for an August 26 release in Japan and it should be out in Europe over the weekend.
The fight is on and we here at Gaming Target will weigh in with our reviews of both Driver 3 and Spider-Man 2 in the next few days.
