News: I have a theory... it must be bunnies. Or Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory. Whatever.
Ubisoft has announced that their E3 blockbuster, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell 3, has a new name and a solid release date. The game is now officially known as Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory and just like Pandora Tomorrow it will be released for the Xbox and PC first. Christmas 2004 is the date that stealth action fans should mark on the calender for their latest dose of the popular series.
Ubisoft was vague on when the game would reach other platforms but the press release they issued in the UK was a little more clear. The PS2 and GameCube versions are expected to ship in Early 2005 in Europe, so I'm sure we in North America will have a similar release date.
Ubisoft has also revealed the plot outline for the game, which you can check out here:
The year is 2008. Citywide blackouts... stock exchange sabotage... electronic hijacking of national defense systems... this is information warfare, which has become the most dangerous threat to global stability. To prevent these attacks, you must infiltrate deep into hostile territory and aggressively collect critical intelligence, closer than ever to enemy soldiers. You are Sam Fisher, the NSA's most elite black-ops agent. To achieve your mission you will operate undetected, kill at close-range, attack with your combat knife, shoot with the modular SC20K rifle, and use radical suppression techniques such as the inverted neck break. Work alone, and enjoy the thrill of cooperative multiplayer infiltration missions, where teamwork is the ultimate weapon.
As the enemy evolves, so must you.
And to finish it off, here's a full feature list:
EXCLUSIVE CLOSE RANGE KILLS: From knife attacks to athletic hand-to-hand kills such as inverted neck breaks, dramatic ledge throws and other new moves
