News: Battlefield: Modern Combat is pushed back to 2005 as EA adds a single-player mode.
EA's upcoming console edition of the Battlefield series is getting a major overhaul and a new release date. Apparently the game was scheduled to be an online only affair as EA announced yesterday that they are adding a single player mode to a game that previously only featured online multiplayer.
"Adding more time to the development cycle of the game will result in a more expansive feature set and a more compelling product," said Greg Richardson, General Manager, EA Partners. "We are confident that this decision will result in a stronger title and continue the advancement of the Battlefield brand."
Consumer feedback was the reason cited for the change and with this new mode EA has said that Battlefield: Modern Combat will now ship for the PS2 and Xbox in Fall 2005 instead of the previously announced Fall 2004. With this extra year EA has also said that the game will include new maps and "additional features".
