News: EA's latest street racer is coming to every console and handheld imagineable.

Late yesterday afternoon, EA officially announced Need For Speed Carbon is coming to the (deep breath now) PS2, Xbox, GameCube, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, PSP, DS, GBA and PC this November. That's right, the long known about (but never officially talked about) next Need For Speed is coming to ten different platforms.

Need For Speed Carbon takes the street racing formula of Most Wanted and Underground and takes it out to the canyons, "where territories and reputations can be lost on every perilous curve."

As always, Carbon is in development at EA Black Box and will include all of the team building and car tweaking the Need For Speed series has become known for. New to the show will be something called "Autosculpt technology", a new way to apply those tweaks in (wait for it) the most realistic way possible.

"We pride ourselves on our ability to reinvent the franchise and continually uncover new and exciting trends in car culture. Canyon Racing is a real test of a driver's skill and we think it provides a fantastic game play opportunity to lean into," said Larry LaPierre, the game's executive producer.

We'll have more on Need For Speed Carbon soon, in the meantime here are three high-res screens to keep you busy.
