News: Along with the return of Team Fortress 2.
The Internet is abuzz with the news that yesterday at their Summer Showcase, EA announced Half-Life 2 for the PS3 and Xbox 360.
While this is fairly unsurprising news, Half-Life 2 for the next-gen systems will be no mere port. They're currently scheduled to ship near the end of the year alongside Half-Life 2: Episode Two for the PC and because of this release date proximinity, Half-Life 2 Next-Gen will include the original HL2, Episode One and Episode Two.
But that's not all. EA also unveiled Team Fortress 2, the crown prince of vaporware to Duke Nukem Forever's king. TF2 has been redesigned as a 60s spy shootout and it will also come bundled with Half-Life 2 Next-Gen and Half-Life 2: Episode Two for the PC.
And that's still not all. Valve CEO Gabe Newell also confirmed that a new HL2 module, currently dubbed Portal, will be included in the package.
Portal is being described as a first person shooter puzzle game and will take a page from Prey's handbook. Players will be given a portable portal generator and must use it to solve puzzle-based rooms to escape a lab.
So needless to say, it's going to be a very happy Half-Life 2 Christmas this year.
