News: A few final details on Groove Games' budget shooter, which will be in stores tomorrow.

Toronto-based Groove Games recently held a conference call to update us on WarPath, their fast-paced FPS that hit store shelves on July 21. At only $29.99 for the Xbox version and a mere $19.99 for the PC, WarPath promises to provide a full-featured shooter at a budget price.

Groove Director of Marketing & Communications Chris Astolfo and Director of Game Development Zandro Chan discussed how the game features stunning graphics, unique weapons that can be upgraded to unlock new alternate attacks, a variety of armored vehicles, 25 multiplayer maps, four gamemodes (Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag and Frontline Assault) and support for up to 16 players on Xbox Live (32 on PC). Gameplay is designed to be extremely fast with lots of vertical movement thanks to jump pads; in other words, it's perfect for Unreal and Quake fans on a budget.

WarPath follows the conflict between three opposing races Ц the cyborg Ohm, the Kovos holy warriors and the human Coalition Ц as they battle for precious resources on the distant planet of Kaladi. The game was originally planned as a sequel to Pariah but thanks in part to player feedback, Groove instead decided to focus on creating a high-octane online multiplayer fragfest.

Stay tuned for a full review of this fun looking shooter coming soon at Gaming Target.
