News: The first of AQ Interactive's big Japanese releases gets signed for North America.
AQ Interactive, one of the Xbox 360's biggest supporters in Japan, has signed a deal with Atari to bring Bullet Witch to American 360s sometime in the future. The game, which is being developed by Cavia, does not currently have an American or Japanese release date, but it's believed it'll be out by the end of 2007.
The Devil May Cry-like Bullet Witch takes place in the near future and stars a girl named Alicia as the titular witch. Alicia will sport an immense arsenal of guns and magic as she takes on a host of demons that are threatening to take over the Earth. Explosions and a fully destructible environment promise to keep the action level high.
Bullet Witch is supposed to be the first game in an ongoing relationship between Atari and AQ Interactive. AQ is working with several developers on other projects including the action title Vampire's Rain and Mistwalker-produced RPG Cry On. It's unknown right now if these titles will become part of Atari and AQ's relationship.
"We are very pleased to announce this partnership with AQ Interactive Inc. and look forward to working with them on Bullet Witch and beyond," said Nique Fajors, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Atari, Inc. "To offer an engaging and unique title such as Bullet Witch to kick start our partnership underlines Atari's commitment to bringing interesting and different titles to gamers all over the world."
"We are excited about starting our relationship with Atari with this project. We have great respect for Atari's expertise in publishing video games with their splendid brand name. Bullet Witch is the first original title developed by our group development studio, Cavia. It is our great pleasure to see this title as part of Atari's stunning product portfolio," said Naohiko Hoshino, Executive Vice President, AQ Interactive, Inc.
Finally, Atari plans to release downloadable levels and costumes over Xbox Live after the game is released. Whenever that is.
