News: Time to crash completely into the next-gen.
While the game was outed on a GameStop product listing a few months ago, EA officially announced Burnout 5 today for the Xbox 360 and PS3.
Developed, as always, by Criterion Games, Burnout 5 drops players in the open world of Paradise City with a Driver's License detailing their craziest crashes and a ticket to ride. According to EA "every intersection [will be] a potential crash junction and every alleyway [will be] an opportunity to rack up moving violations".
The power of the next-gen systems will be used to create even more vehicular mayhem, with a chance to rip your car in half (finally!). As if that weren't enough, EA says players will square off against the city's most infamous burners, "and these legends aren't interested in who crosses the finish line first".
УBurnout 5 is a complete reinvention of the series, built from the ground up for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360,Ф said Alex Ward, director of game design at Criterion Games. УTo create truly next-generation gameplay, we needed to create a truly next-generation game, from top to bottom.Ф
Burnout 5 is currently scheduled to ship sometime in 2007.
