News: Man, somebody is gonna get fired...

Early this morning Ubisoft released a 2 GB Rar file onto their public FTP site containing a ton of assets (including screenshots, video and concept art) from 15 upcoming games, across all platforms, including six that were completely unannounced. No playable code was included in the Rar, but the downloaded assets are already making the rounds of blogs, torrents and forum postings across the Internet.

The accidental leak was discovered by forum posters at NeoGAF and the thread at NeoGAF contains links to almost all of the assets.

The games included in this package are:

  • Assassin's Creed
  • Far Cry 2
While it was assumed Far Cry 2 was in development, this is the first confirmation we've got.

  • Far Cry (PSP)
  • Far Cry: Vengeance
  • Lost
Sadly, just the game logo was included.

  • Naruto 360
  • Open Season
  • Prince of Persia 4
  • Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas
  • Rocky (PSP)
  • Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction
Hmm, I wonder what that subtitle means for the storyline of Double Agent?

  • Surf's Up
Based on the upcoming penguin surfing movie from Sony.

  • Star Wars: Lethal Alliance
  • Shaun White Snowboarding
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Naturally, Ubisoft was not happy. They contacted Eurogamer and explained: "We are clearly displeased that confidential information from Ubisoft has been distributed on the internet. The publication of this type of information can only be harmful to the game development process and we will take all steps necessary to prevent this from happening in the future. We are still investigating the events that lead to this information leak and at this time have no further comment."

Personally, I think this is a huge public relations win for Ubisoft. Their games are all anyone will be talking about today and the reaction to the assets has been extremely favorable. On top of that, the only assets that were released were screens and video. No playable code was released into the wild, so Ubisoft should at least be grateful for that. I also think the Prince of Persia 4 stuff looks great.

So go forth and dive deep into that NeoGAF thread and see what Ubisoft treasures you come up with.
