News: If you thought the only games that could be set in the 40s were WWII shooters you thought wrong...
Rockstar has announced it will publish L.A. Noire, the first game from Australian developer Team Bondi, for the PS3 sometime in the future. Team Bondi was founded by Brendan McNamara, who previously helped create The Getaway on the PS2.
L.A. Noire will take place in the distinctive "film noir period" of the late 40s and like all good noir, it will be a hard boiled detective story. The game will focus on a complex story packed with dames, hoods and jazz in an L.A. "before freeways [that] will truly blend cinema and gaming".
"Brendan and I have known each other for a long time, and to finally have the opportunity to work together on a game is exciting," said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. "The longstanding mutual respect and the combined experience between the two of us make this a great partnership," added Brendan McNamara, CEO of Team Bondi.
While we don't know when it's coming out, we do when we'll get a first look at it. Rockstar will reveal the first trailer to L.A. Noire on October 5 at RockstarGames.com/lanoire
