The Shield

Written by John Scalzo  on October 13, 2006

News: Vic Mackey and the Strike Team are ready to stake out some PS2 and PC turf.

Talk about your returns from the dead! The Shield, a PS2 and Xbox game based on the popular FX series, practically vaporized when Sammy and Sega merged in late 2004. Sammy would have published the Point of View developed title some time in 2005, but after the merger it did not fit the company's new vision. So it quietly slipped into the "canceled pile".

That all changed today as Aspyr Media, a company mainly focused on publishing Mac games, has announced they will be bringing The Shield to the PS2 and PC this winter.

"The Shield game captures the spirit, atmosphere, and production values of the television series it's based on, and with its millions of viewers and fans, it is the perfect product to be our foray into the PS2 market," said Ted Staloch, Executive Vice President, Publishing for Aspyr.

We'll have more on The Shield soon.
