News: The urban playground game has a new developer, a new publisher and a new platform.
Before Core Design was sold to Rebellion, they were working on a PSP game based on the "urban" sport of Free Running. But Core was sold to another developer, Rebellion, who has absorbed the Core team and taken on the development reins to Free Running themselves.
This is just the first in a slew of new announcements concerning Free Running. Rebellion also revealed that a PS2 version of the game is now also in the works and that Reef Entertainment will be publishing the game in Europe. Speaking of Europe, Free Running is now scheduled for an early 2007 release date over there and a Spring 2007 release date for those of us in America.
So what is Free Running? Rebellion CEO and Creative Director Jason Kingsley describes it like this: "Free Running is currently QA's favourite game, which is a very good sign. Some players have described it as 'Tony Hawks without the skateboard.' If we get anywhere near that level of success, we'll be immensely pleased."
We'll have more on Free Running soon.
