News: No word on whether or not canceled game will be downloadable outside of Japan.
Sony is giving Japanese gamers who were lucky enough to snag a PS3 an early Christmas present in the form of a downloadable Gran Turismo HD.
Instead of releasing the game next year, the company is canceling the next-generation racer and making a concept version available in order to focus on Gran Turismo 5. Japan is the only country currently scheduled to receive a chance to download the free demo, which is set for release on December 24.
A North American demo hasn't been announced at this time. However, you can check out our coverage for Gran Turismo HD here while you wait and read up on the series' next title guaranteed to release in America, Gran Turismo Mobile, is still scheduled to release in March of 2007.
