News: Game over man, game over!

After accidentally revealing it in the copyright information of their website, Sega has confirmed Gearbox Software (creators of the Brothers in Arms series) has signed on to create a First Person Shooter based on the 'Alien' universe. The game will be developed for next-generation, but as of now, Sega has not said which consoles the game will appear on.

УGearbox Software has a storied history of bringing innovative and compelling design to the FPS category,Ф said Simon Jeffery, President and COO, SEGA of America, Inc. УCombining their design talents with the intense action of the Alien franchise ensures that gamers will have an immersive and action-packed experience.Ф

УThe Alien series has been a tremendous influence for myself, the people at Gearbox Software and the video games industry in general,Ф said Randy Pitchford, President of Gearbox Software. УThe opportunity to work with the amazing people at SEGA and Fox to build a next generation video game in the Alien universe is one of those dream projects that is a perfect fit for our capability and our passion.Ф

The Alien FPS compliments an Alien RPG, to be developed by Obsidian, which was announced this week. Both games are expected to ship in 2009, so be prepared to wait.

We'll have more on the Alien FPS soon.
