News: But no Wii love yet.
The March 2007 issue of Game Informer blows the doors of something gamers have been waiting for for a long time: the first original Star Wars game for next-generation consoles.
Titled Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, it will be coming to the PS3, Xbox 360, PS2, PSP and DS. It is also the rumored "Darth Vader game" that has been in development for some time and it is the game behind the Star Wars tech demo that LucasArts showed at E3.
The Force Unleashed will take place between Episode III and Episode IV, as Darth Vader and his apprentice hunt down the remaining Jedi. It will also include a side story concerning Vader's plans to turn on the Emperor with his new apprentice and rule the galaxy himself.
The game will also make use of LucasArts' new Euphoria engine. If you'll recall, this engine will also power the new Indiana Jones game as it attempts to simulate unique environmental damage like explosions, splintered wood and bent steel.
The PS2, PSP and DS versions will be done by outside developers and obviously will not use the Euphoria technology.
The story also mentions that George Lucas himself has had a great influence on many of the new characters and that it may be possible to change the future and actually overthrow the Emperor.
Who wouldn't like to experience a reimagined Original Trilogy with Darth Vader calling the shots?
We'll have more on Star Wars: The Force Unleashed soon.
