News: On the eve of Wrestlemania comes word of another THQ wrestlefest.
THQ has announced the latest addition to their WWE stable of games, WWE Smackdown! Vs. Raw 2008. The game will be coming this Fall for the PS2, PS3, PSP, Xbox 360, Wii and DS.
"We are extremely pleased with the success of the Smackdown vs. Raw franchise and its continued growth to a widespread audience, particularly in our European markets," said Bob Aniello, senior vice president, worldwide marketing, THQ. "With the addition of fresh, innovative game play on the Wii, the tremendous capabilities of the PlayStation 3 system and unique handheld experiences for Nintendo DS and wireless devices, gamers can now truly live the life of a WWE Superstar and choose from numerous ways to play."
Smackdown Vs. Raw 2008 will up the ante again by adding Superstar Fighting Styles, a system of eight unique fighting styles, each with their own strategy and attributes. The game will also add a new grapple system called the Struggle Submission System. The SSS will use each system's analog controls to apply pressure to an opponent.
Fans of Extreme Championship Wrestling will also be pleased to hear that ECW wrestlers will have a big impact on SvR 2008. And of coruse, THQ has promised plenty of other additions to the series including "new rosters, more environmental hotspots, a combined Season and General Manager Mode experience, improved out-of-ring action, enhanced online community support and much more."
The DS version will also include touch screen control, making it a unique entry among the rest.
