News: Johnny Knoxville and the boys are being turned into virtual idiots.
The Hollywood Reporter has some of the first details on the Jackass crew's first foray into video games. Not surprisingly titled Jackass: The Game, the show's extreme stupidity will be turned into a game for the DS, PSP and PS2. Publisher Red Mile Entertainment and developer Sidhe Interactive expect it in stores on September 24.
Original dialogue will be supplied by the Jackass guys, along with their images and brainpower. Knoxville has said he's working closely with the development team to create stunts they wanted to do on the show but never did.
The game will include 35 stunts including things like "bumper car races across New York rooftops, unicycling though a construction site, rolling down San Francisco streets in a trash can and destroying a golf course with a golf cart." And if any of these stunts ends badly (and you know they will), there's always the "Bail-Out" option. Pressing the Bail-Out button makes the game takeover as players are thrown headfirst into their injuries with plenty of ragdoll physics. The game will also track and highlight injuries resulting in a higher score.
The PSP version appears to be the most feature rich, as it will include a replay option that will allow gamers to save their favorite injuries to a memory stick. These short clips can then be traded with friends using the PSP's wireless connection. Unlockable clips from the show will also be included in the PSP version.
"We're excited as all hell about [the game]," Knoxville said. "It is kind of odd that people will take on our personas and depressing that they're going to have to do that. We've never really worked on anything like this before. This is our first video game. We just hope that our video game is as crappy as our movies."
Well said Mr. Knoxville, well said.
