News: The Xbox Live Arcade classic is getting the Nintendo treatment.
After its reveal in the new Nintendo Power, Sierra Entertainment has announced they will be bringing Geometry Wars: Galaxies to the DS and Wii sometime in the near future. However, the game will not be developed by GW creator Bizarre Creations, but instead Kuju Surrey (who last worked on M.A.C.H. for the PSP).
Galaxies will feature "an all new mission-based campaign where players blast-off on action-paced quests across the galaxy, defending solar systems one by one, defeating waves of alien enemies on new and classic Battle Grids." In addition to this new story mode, the game will include optimized controls for the Wii and the DS.
The game will also include a bunch of multiplayer modes including "battle via hot seat, co-op, simultaneous and versus." The Wii will be able to linkup to the DS version via Wi-Fi to unlock bonus content. An online leaderboard will also make its way onto the Wii version.
"The Geometry Wars: Galaxies videogame is an entertaining title blending old-school arcade fun with next-gen gameplay and action," said Al Simone, SVP of Global Marketing for Sierra Entertainment. "We are excited to bring the Geometry Wars brand to the Nintendo platform as both the Wii and DS enable a fun and frenetic experience for gamers."
We'll have more on Geometry Wars: Galaxies soon.
