News: Neither company wants an AO-rated game on their repsective systems.
Rockstar and Take-Two lost another avenue in their fight to release Manhunt 2 on time yesterday when Nintendo and Sony both contacted GameSpot and confirmed neither company wants an Adults Only-rated game on their respective systems.
Both companies laid down their policies very clearly:
"As stated on Nintendo.com, Nintendo does not allow any AO-rated content on its systems," a Nintendo representative told GameSpot.
"It's currently our policy not to allow the playback of AO-rated content on our systems," a Sony spokesperson told GameSpot.
It should be noted that Sony is not averse to endorsing risque material for their devices as the "unrated" cut of the 2005 horror film Hostel is available as a UMD movie for Sony's PSP.
Manhunt 2 is still scheduled for a July 10th release date, but this new information almost ensures a delay so Rockstar can edit the game down to an M-rating.
