News: 2D space shooting fun is coming in the fall.

Majesco has announced they will be bringing Blast Works: Build, Fuse & Destroy, a 2D space shooter, to the Wii this fall. The game will be developed by Budcat Creations and will bring several (relatively) new things to the shooter genre.

In Blast Works, players will be able to build their own ship by absorbing pieces of destroyed enemy ships. The larger the ship, the more firepower you'll be able to take. But the larger the ship, the more hits you'll take and the more mobility you'll lose. Choices, choices.

The game will also include a Ship Editor and a Level Editor. The game will feature a two-player cooperative mode as well.

"Gamers can literally build their own shooter experience via Blast Works' easy-to-use, multiple in-game editors," said Ken Gold, vice president of Marketing, Majesco. "This exceptional customization combined with the unique "stickiness" of enemy debris and bright geometric graphics delivers a standout game that never plays the same way twice."

If all of this sounds familar, that's because it's based on the freeware PC shooter Tumiki Figters. Not officially of course, but rumors rumbled a few months back that Majesco was working on bringing that game to the Wii. It appears (after a name change) that that's what they plan to do.

We'll have more on Blast Works: Build, Fuse & Destroy soon.
