Id Software's annual QuakeCon gathering has produced plenty of new announcements for a variety of different games and projects. So let's not waste any time and get right to them.
First, id has revealed the first details and trailer for their new major franchise, Rage. Rage is a Road Warrior-inspired post-apocalyptic first person shooter that will be coming to the PC, PS3, Xbox 360 and Mac sometime in the future. It will be the first game to make use of id's new game engine, id Tech 5.
In addition to the first person shooting, the game will also include driving sections and (according to 1UP) a Teen rating. That's right, id is cutting back on the blood and body parts as they mature. If you want to see Rage in action, skip down to the bottom of this article for the first trailer.
Moving on, id has confirmed that the upcoming Castle Wolfenstein game (which is being developed by Raven Software) will be coming to the PlayStation 3 alongside the previously announced Xbox 360 and PC versions.
In addition to the new game, it was announced that Roger Avary (the screenwriter behind Silent Hill and co-writer of Pulp Fiction) will write and direct the Return to Castle Wolfenstein movie.
On the subject of the Xbox 360, Quake 3 Arena was finally confirmed for the Xbox Live Arcade service (it first appeared on the ESRB website months ago) and it will be known as Quake Arena Arcade. It will be developed by Pi Studios and should be out soon.
And speaking of Quake, id has announced that Enemy Territory: Quake Wars will be available in stores on October 2 (the PC version anyway). The Xbox 360 and PS3 versions are still without a release date.
Finally, the company has revealed that nearly it's entire back catalog of developed and published is available on the Steam download service right now. That includes the following games:
Commander Keen (Episodes 1 - 5)
Wolfenstein 3D
Spear of Destiny
Return to Castle Wolfenstein
The Ultimate Doom
Doom II
Final Doom
Doom 3
Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil
Quake
Quake Mission Pack 1: Scourge of Armagon
Quake Mission Pack 2: Dissolution of Eternity
Quake II
Quake II Mission Pack: The Reckoning
Quake II Mission Pack: Ground Zero
Quake III Arena
Quake III: Team Arena
Heretic
Heretic: Shadow of the Serpent Riders
Hexen
Hexen: Deathkings of the Dark Citadel

The games are available separately or in specialized packs. This includes the "id Super Pack," which features all of the games at a price of $70. Not bad.
The only games from id's oevure missing from the Steam deal are Keen Dreams and Commander Keen: Episode 6. Id no longer holds the publishing rights to those titles.
Now then, with all of the announcements out of the way, here is the Rage trailer:
