News: Go Pokemon Trainer!

Pokemon Trainer has been confirmed as a new character in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, according to Smash Bros. Dojo. The official web site, which also updated with screenshots of the playable fighter, points out that he doesn't actually do any of the fighting himself. Instead, he has Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Charizard do the battling just like a trainer would in the Pokemon RPGs.

The Pokemon Trainer does have a hand in the match with a Pokщmon Change move, which switches between creatures. However, swapping monsters doesn't make your health bar any bigger since they all share the same meter. In fact, it might hurt them. What you should pay attention to is the early tip that the site points out: don't change your Pokemon too often or too little because there's a stamina-like meter, too.

Be sure to check out Smash Bros. Dojo for more screenshots and our Pokemon Retrospective for our look at the evolved series.
