News: Eidos' first person shooter gets folded into their famed Conflict series.

Previously announced as Crossfire, Eidos has announced the Pivotal Games-produced co-op title will now become a part of the Conflict series of shooters.

"We are taking the Conflict series in a new direction, making it more explosive and mature," said Robert Lindsey, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Eidos Inc. "Conflict: Denied Ops delivers large-scale Hollywood style action sequences in real-world political hot spots, sure to appease fans of the FPS genre."

Conflict: Denied Ops is a co-op first person shooter that places players in the shoes of two black ops soldiers who operate outside the realm of a typical member of the armed forces. According to Eidos, these soldiers will carry out missions "all throughout politically sensitive areas across South America, Africa and Russia."

The game will also feature fully destructible environments "allowing players to utilize new tactics such as shooting through walls to create sniping holes or blasting open new paths to take the enemy by surprise." Blowing up an entire building to reach an objective will apparently also be a possibility to the unnamed Denied Ops soldiers.

Conflict: Denied Ops is currently on track for a spring 2008 release on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. We'll have more soon.
