News: Popular game show coming to PC, DS, PS2 and Wii.
THQ has announced will be bringing the popular game show Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader? to the video game world soon. In fact, the PC version is already here, having shipped to stores today (for the budget price of $19.99). A DS version will be available this fall and PS2 and Wii versions are in the works for 2008.
Jeff Foxworthy hosts the show and provides commentary in the game as he asks players 11 questions straight from grade school textbooks. All told, the game will include 3,000 questions spanning 28 subjects. The game will also attempt to stay true to the show by offering the "Peek" and "Copy" cheats.
While some gamers may scoff at something like Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader?, the questions are actually much harder than you'd think. Who has a need to remember something like all of the state capitals beyond the fifth grade? Well, now you have a reason.
If the questions get too hard, players can "drop out" and admit they are not smarter than a fifth grader. Of course, without the threat of losing hundreds of thousands of real dollars, that part of the game show may not translate to the video game very well.
We'll have more on Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader? soon.
