News: Could these titles be coming to America? I hope so.
The Australian Classification Review Board has recently added ratings for four new Virtual Console games to their database that were previously never released outside of Japan. The four are:
Ninja Jajamaru-Kun (NES)
Super Mario Bros. 2 (JPN) (NES)
Mario's Super Picross (Super NES)
Sin and Punishment: Successor of the Earth (Nintendo 64)
This is not an unprecedented move as Battle Lode Runner was added to the service back in April even though it had never been released outside of Japan. But the original NES release of Super Mario Bros. 2 (JPN) (previously only available in North America as part of the SNES Super Mario All-Stars package) and Sin and Punishment (a Treasure-developed "on-rails" shooter) have been two very highly anticipated games since the VC was first announced.
Will these games see a North American release? I'd say it seems likely as they require little to no English localization and Battle Loder Runner has already set the precedent that it's possible.
The real question is will we eventually see some of the more text-heavy RPGs such as Earthbound Zero, Secret of Mana 2, the Fire Emblem games and the Famicom Wars series? That's harder to predict, but a man can dream can't he?
