News: Lightsaber dueling comes home to the Wii.
Remember last week when LucasArts' Mark Montuya slyly hinted that more Star Wars goodness would be coming to the Wii very soon? The official announcement of that title came today as LucasArts has confirmed that Star Wars: The Force Unleashed will be coming to the Wii early next year alongside the previously Xbox 360, PS3, PS2, PSP and DS versions.
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed for the Wii is being developed by Krome Studios in Australia (they are also working on the PS2 and PSP versions). The Wii version will follow the same storyline as the other versions as players will take control of Darth Vader's "Secret Apprentice" as he exterminates the last of the Jedi in the time period between Episode III and Episode IV.
But what about the Lightsaber fighting? Well, LucasArts has also confirmed that the Wii version of the game will include an exclusive Lightsaber duel mode. There's no word yet if this coveted mode will include online play or not.
УThe Wii is a great platform for The Force Unleashed, because the console's motion-oriented controllers really bring the game to life,Ф said Jim Ward, President of LucasArts. УWe've worked hard to make the Wii version of the game unique in order to truly let you unleash the Force.Ф
Now if you'll excuse me, I have to pretend to jump around the room while swinging a Wiimote around like an imaginary Lightsaber.
We'll have more on The Force Unleashed soon.
