News: Sony FCC filing details a new and cheaper PS3 model.
We just reported on new Xbox 360 bundles available for Christmas and it has now become apparent that a new, cheaper PlayStation 3 could well be heading to the shelves this holiday season.
Sony's recent
FCC filing details a new PS3 under the model number CECHG01 which is expected to be the $399 model we've all been hearing things about. There are no available images and few technical details available but in the filing Ц which tests a PlayStation 3 console, controller and PlayStation Portable Ц Bluetooth and WiFi were mentioned. Elsewhere in the filing there are mentions of only two USB ports (instead of the usual four) and no memory card readers.
If this is to be believed Sony may well be able to catch up in the sales market and sell a lot more PS3s. This can only be a good thing for gamers keen to get their hands on the likes of Metal Gear Solid 4, Killzone 2 and several more exclusive games.
